Simon, Emma, Oliver and Oscar would like to welcome you to our family farm.
Our farm is located high in the Peak District National Park, benefiting from the unique and beautiful landscape around us. We farm traditional native breeds of longhorn cattle, Gloucester Old Spot and Tamworth pigs and Jacob and Derbyshire Gritstone sheep. These breeds are suited to our upland environment, where they thrive in rich biodiverse grasslands. Allowed to grow and mature slowly, we produce meat of the highest quality and flavour.
Our aim is to farm in the most natural and sustainable way, putting the environment and our passion for farming at the heart of what we do. With low food miles, traditional native breeds and sustainable agricultural methods, we live and breathe our farm values - local, natural, sustainable.
We'd love to share Torgate with you - shop with us, come and visit the farm shop or even stay overnight at our wild camping site!
We started farming in 2010 at Betty’s Farm, Willington where we ran a free range laying hen unit with 24,000 free range hens. We gradually expanded, adding a farm shop, butchery, cafe and play area and in 2018 purchased our own farm, Torgate Farm, to supply the butchery with home reared meat.
Follow the coronavirus pandemic in 2020 we moved permanently to Torgate Farm, opening a small farm shop and selling our produce online and at local farmers markets. We would be pleased to supply you with your butchery needs -our home reared meat, together with daily essentials, are available from our farm shop at Torgate Farm and we also offer delivery in the local area as well as fortnightly collection from Mercia Marina, Willington. Courier delivery is also available direct to your home for your ease and convenience.
We are proud to share our farm with our customers and have extensive plans to continue to develop our farm and shop further in the coming years.
